The benefits of solar (the basics)

If you’re considering solar panels for your place, you probably have a lot of questions. And, if you’ve started researching, you’re possibly a bit overwhelmed.

Let us break it down for you - here are the top benefits of solar power, the basic edition.

Increase the value of your home

Having a solar system installed can increase the value of your home and tick a box when it comes time to sell. Studies suggest that a 5kW solar panel installation can add around $30K to the value of your residential property.

Reduce the cost of energy

A solar system will meet some (if not most) of your energy needs through solar power generation, meaning you’ll pay less for your energy usage. How much you will reduce your costs by, will depend on the size of the solar system and your individual energy usage.

As an additional bonus, you can even get paid for any surplus power your system puts into the power grid by way of a feed-in tariff (FiT). For example, at Mojo Power we have a solar focused energy plan called G'day Sunshine that rewards solar owners with a high feed-in tariff for your solar exports. Check with your energy provider about the FiT's available to you or, if you're not happy, shop around for a better deal.

Doing your bit for the environment

Solar systems reduce your carbon footprint. And with more households installing solar we can reduce our collective dependence on fossil fuels by increasing the generation of renewable energy and exporting that energy from the solar panels on your roof to the grid.

So there are the basic benefits of solar power - increasing the value of your home, reducing your energy costs and doing your bit to ensure a greener future for all of us.
